What you need to know

Relevant facts

Transport agency-approved courses cover the road rules and basic handling skills. They are not a replacement for courses covering OSH requirements or the skills required for particular work environments. ie: Forklift

A road can be defined in terms of any place that the public has access to (by right or not). This can include beaches, shoulders and also a carpark or yard etc with no locked gate to restrict access.

Points to note

You must hold a minimum current Full NZ Class 1 Driver Licence and have this with you on the day.

Attendees must hold the correct NZ Drivers Licence relating the vehicle they want to operate. Please refer to fact sheet 40 on the NZTA website otherwise give us a call and we can assist.

Please note: You can’t drive on the road just because you’ve got the course certificate. You must have the endorsement on your driver licence. It is the student’s responsibility to get their endorsement/s put on their license. The student must take their issued certificate to a Driver licencing agency such as VTNZ or AA.

They will ask you to fill out an Application for the endorsement. You must provide your W, T and/or R endorsement certificate-fully intact. You will be asked to do an eye test. You will ask you to pay the application fee of approximately $50. This is in addition to the course cost.
