AllTrain: Man cage

People credited with this unit standard can: identify a powered industrial lift truck (PILT) safety cage and prepare to use a safety platform for a specified task on a worksite; complete pre-operational checks; fit and remove a safety platform to and from a PILT; and use a PILT fitted with a safety platform to complete work at heights.

 

Course Details

The course content and unit standards covered are:

  • NZQA 10849 - Use a forklift-mounted safety platform in the workplace -Level 3, (4 credits).

 

Please note: A practical assessment is also completed on the day with a man cage and can be added to a forklift course.

This course can be held at our yard or at your site nationwide.

We will not sign you off if the accessor does not deem you competent or think you have understood the course content correctly. 

If not deemed competent, you will have to re-sit the course.

Points to note

  • If we come to your site, all equipment needs to be in good working condition and have current certification. This includes any lanyards and harnesses, and the man cage must be certified current.

  • Achievement of this unit standard does not entitle holders to operate a forklift on a public road. To operate a forklift on a public road, the operator must hold a driver’s licence for the appropriate class of vehicle with a Type F (forklift) endorsement.


Relevant facts

  • The student will receive a certificate to acknowledge their completion of the unit standard, and credits will be registered and logged on their record of achievement.

  • Students must bring a form of identification—a driver’s licence, passport, or birth certificate.

  • Minimum level 1 NCEA.

  • Students need to bring their PPE equipment, which includes hard hats.
