About This Course

Our truck driving course combines classroom learning, logbook training, and hands-on heavy vehicle driving. You’ll get guided support through the Class 2 licence theory test, practice safe loading and reversing, and complete your Class 2 Licence assessment using one of our trucks.

Day 1Class 2 Learner Licence
(½ day)

  • Prepares you for the official Class 2 licence NZ theory test at VTNZ.

Day 2 Logbook Training (US24089)
(1 day)

  • Causes and effects of fatigue

  • Work time limits, rest breaks, and penalties

  • Completing and presenting compliant logbook entries

Day 3–4 Class 2 Licence Assessment (US17574)
(½ day theory + 2–3 hour drive)

  • Hazard identification & risk reduction

  • Safe loading and stability (high centre of gravity, restraints, penalties)

  • Pre-drive inspections

  • Driving practice in urban, rural, and highway conditions

  • Reversing manoeuvres (straight line + 90° turn)

  • Parking, shut-down, and securing a heavy vehicle

By the end of the course, you’ll be fully prepared to sit your Class 2 truck licence test and confident driving a heavy rigid vehicle on New Zealand roads.

Important to Know

  • Once passed, take your certificate to VTNZ or AA to apply for your full Class 2 licence (additional fee applies)
