We run courses across Palmerston North, Feilding, Whanganui and the wider Manawatū region, with nationwide training available by request.
Course Details
Price: $240 +GST Per Person
Refresher Price: $180 +GST Per Person
Registration of Credits: $49 +GST
Duration: 8am – 2pm (approx)
Location: Palmerston North (or off-site by arrangement)
Unit Standard: 10851 (7 Credits)
Note: credits are only registered upon request. Additional NZQA fees apply.
Tutor Credentials:
AllTrain courses are assessed by experienced instructors, with NZQA credit assessments carried out by registered contract assessors. OSH Forklift training assessments follow Competenz standards, and credits are reported to NZQA on behalf of Competenz.

About This Course
This course gives you the know-how and hands-on skills to safely operate a Powered Industrial Lift Truck – aka, a forklift. It includes:
Theory
Health & Safety at Work Act 2015
Common causes of accidents and notifiable events
Weight limits, axle loads & stability
Forklift types, controls & handling
Safe loading, unloading & general rules
Driving with loads & hazard awareness
Practical
Pre-start safety checks
Operating and handling your forklift
Stacking and de-stacking
Safe use of LPG, electric and diesel forklifts
Refuelling and recharging
Parking and storage procedures
By the end of the course, you’ll have the confidence and competence to safely operate a forklift in the workplace.

Important to Know
You don’t need a driver’s licence to operate a forklift (unless you're driving it on a public road, in which case you need an F endorsement)
If you pass the course, you’re deemed competent and can legally operate a forklift in a workplace setting
Certificates are valid for 3 years. After that, you’ll need a refresher course – if it’s been more than 3 years and 3 months, you’ll need to re-sit the full course

OSH Certificate (Forklift Operator’s Certificate): Covers safe forklift use off-road and in workplaces.
F Endorsement: Needed if you’re driving a forklift on a public road. You’ll also need a full driver’s licence.

Every 3 years – and make sure it’s no more than 3 years and 3 months since your last one. After that, it’s back to the full course.

Your assessment will be carried out by a registered contract assessor who works with organisations like Competenz. They’re approved to assess against the required NZQA unit standards, and your credits will be officially reported once you’ve passed.
