This advanced course helps drivers understand and avoid common road risks, turning everyday drivers into safer, more aware road users.
Held in Palmerston North, this NZTA-approved course also offers a time reduction benefit for Restricted Licence holders.
Course Details
Price: $350 (incl. GST) Per Person
Eligibility: Restricted Licence holders
Assessment: Practical drive required to complete the course
Duration: 4 x theory classes + 1 x practical drive
Location: Palmerston North
Outcome: NZTA-recognised certificate
Note: Restricted Licence holders can use the certificate from this course to receive a time reduction on their Restricted Licence from 18 months down to 12 months, if under 25 years of age. If you are 25 years of age plus, then you can reduce your Restricted Licence time from 6 months to 3 months.

About This Course
This course is ideal for learner drivers on a Restricted Licence who want to improve their driving knowledge and confidence, and speed up the journey to a Full Licence.
It includes four theory sessions and one practical driving session. Here's the breakdown:
Theory
Week 1: Tuesday & Thursday – 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Week 2: Tuesday & Thursday – 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Practical
One 1-hour in-car session
Booked during the final week of the course and completed within 3 weeks of finishing

Anyone with a valid New Zealand driver licence can enrol, including Learner and Restricted licence holders.

The course includes four interactive classroom sessions (2 hours each) and a 1-hour practical driving session. You'll learn defensive driving techniques, hazard awareness, and how to make safer decisions on the road.

The full course runs over two weeks, with sessions held twice per week. The practical drive must be completed within three weeks of the final class.

At AllTrain, the full course is $350 (including GST). This covers both the classroom sessions and the practical drive.

Nope! You can take this course on a Learner Licence too. However, only Restricted Licence holders can use the certificate to reduce their licence period.
